Device is in doze mode. How to override?

I would like to avoid having my device go to Doze Mode. It's an Android. Does anyone know how to override this so that it is never in doze mode?

I would also love to disable doze mode. The bad news is Google doesn't allow it. It is disabled only if you either switch screen on or your phone is connected to a charger. Hopefully Google will change this policy.
