How do I query my current lat/long coordinates?

Curious if it is possible to query my current lat/long coordinates?

I am working on building a Raspberry Pi setup that will automatically open my garage door when I am within a certain distance of my home, on my way home from work. Is there some mechanism that the Raspberry Pi could query my current coordinates with? (Something like a REST API or other library perhaps?)
